55% of babies in New York City are born into poverty.
It's worth repeating: In New York City,
55% of all infants are born below the poverty line. Help lift them up.
Becoming a mom or dad comes easily. Becoming a real parent requires some training. Robin Hood funds The Nurse Family Partnership, which helps unprepared young mothers and fathers learn how to nurture their newborns and cope with their new lives. Studies prove this program reduces abuse, improves academic performance and even reduces crime.

Meet Jennifer
Before she turned 13, Jennifer suffered unspeakable abuse at the hands of her father. She grew up afraid to trust, and her worst nightmare came true when the father of her two boys began to abuse her. She escaped the relationship, but when her younger son Massiah showed severe behavioral issues, she felt unable to cope. But thanks to "play therapy" at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Center for Babies, Toddlers and Families (made possible by Robin Hood), she has learned to manage Massiah's behavior. Today, Jennifer wants to open a daycare center so she can use what she learned and "pay it forward."
